Balcoltra 0.1/20 Tablets 28s is a combination birth control pill that contains two female hormones, ethinyl estradiol and levonorgestrel. These hormones work together to prevent pregnancy by inhibiting ovulation and thickening the cervical mucus. Additionally, the last seven pills in the pack include iron to help prevent iron deficiency often associated with menstrual bleeding. While Balcoltra is generally effective and convenient, it's essential to be aware of potential side effects and risks. This medication can cause serious side effects such as allergic reactions, liver problems, and blood clots, which require immediate medical attention. Other common side effects include changes in menstrual periods, mood swings, and changes in weight. Before starting any new medication, it's crucial to discuss the benefits and risks with your healthcare provider.

I feel like they tried to kill two birds with one stone by including iron. Honestly it's helpful, but some of the other side effects like back pain and tender breasts were a bit much for me.

*looks at the side effects list* Yeah, I'm good with just condoms and a glass of wine. Taking pills with that massive list of side effects is not worth it for me.

I hear that the iron pills can sometimes make your stool turn black, which can be a bit alarming at first. But it's just the iron oxidizing. Just wanted to give a heads up to anyone starting Balcoltra!

Honestly, I switched from a different pill to Balcoltra because I needed the iron. My periods were so heavy that I was getting anemic, and this has been a lifesaver. Highly recommend if you have heavy periods!

I had a friend who experienced severe migraines after starting Balcoltra, so just be aware that everyone's body reacts differently. It's always good to keep a close eye on any changes and talk to your doctor if anything feels off.

I've been on Balcoltra for about 6 months now, and it's been great for regulating my periods, but I did experience some initial spotting. Has anyone else had this issue?

Are the side effects really that bad? I'm considering switching to Balcoltra but I'm a bit worried about the potential risks. Has anyone had any serious reactions to this pill?

Balance is key. I have a friend who was on the pill and had some bad side effects. Then again, I have another friend who's been on the pill since she was 19 and has had no issues. Everyone is different, so always talk to a doctor before you start any kind of hormonal birth control

I had to switch off of Balcoltra because I got blood clots. Getting back on a regular cycle without the birth control was helpful. Everyone needs to do what works for them, just be careful if you have a history of blood clots.

I appreciate that the last seven pills have iron. I've struggled with anemia, and knowing that I'm getting a bit of extra iron to top up my levels over the course of the month gives me some peace of mind. I'm always so worried about my hemoglobin levels dropping in my periods.
