I've recently been prescribed Benazepril/hctz 10/12.5mg Tablets for managing my high blood pressure. I'm wondering if anyone else has experience with this medication. I'm particularly interested in hearing about any side effects you may have experienced and how you managed them. I've read about the potential for serious side effects, and I want to be prepared. Have any of you had to deal with the urgent side effects like kidney problems or high blood sugar? Or dealt with things like the potential increased risk of skin cancer? How did you handle it? Also, what about the less severe but more common side effects like dizziness or headache? Any tips or tricks for mitigating these?

This stuff really works. Blood pressure is way down and no major side effects for me. As others said be sure to follow up with your doc and stay on top of any changes.

I've been on this for a year now. The persistent cough was annoying, but my doctor said it's a common side effect. I also had some kidney alert symptoms so I contacted my doctor immediately and they did some tests. The tests were clear, but I keep in touch with my doctor still. Be sure to get regular blood tests done to monitor your kidney function.

Any one else experiencing eye problems? I've noticed some changes in my vision and it's a bit concerning.

The persistent cough is annoying, but nothing compared to the benefits of lowering my blood pressure. Just drink plenty of water and rest when needed.

Be aware of the skin cancer risk. I had a mole that changed color and size, and it turned out to be a precancerous growth. I was lucky that I caught it early because my doctor said it could be easily treated. Do regular checks and avoid sun exposure.

Watch out for the electrolyte issues. I ended up in the ER with severe dizziness and muscle weakness. Turns out my potassium levels were way low. So please get regular blood tests and monitor your electrolytes.

Yikes, I had no idea about the skin cancer risk. I might need to talk to my doctor about this.
