I was prescribed Benztropine 2mg Tablets to help with muscle stiffness and tremors. I know these are used for Parkinson's, but I was prescribed them for drug-induced symptoms. Wondering if anyone's had trouble quitting this stuff...the side effects seem scary, but my doc says they're rare. Has anyone had any weird issues with them? I'm looking for people's personal experiences to know what to expect. I'm also curious about the 'balance certain natural substances in the brain' part. Does anyone know what that means? if I'm on this stuff, does that mean I'm not supposed to take other medications, or what?

I find this interesting- the idea that it balances certain natural substances in the brain. I know that it's an anticholinergic, and it works by blocking the action of acetylcholine, a neurotransmitter. But that's just what I read on google; haven't spoken to a doctor about this yet.

I'm on Benztropine and it's been fine so far, knock on wood. I didn't know about the heat stuff though, so thanks for the heads-up!

I took Benztropine for a short while and it made me feel so nervous and jittery. I had to stop taking it. I'm not sure if it was the meds or just a coincidence, but it wasn't worth it for me, I'd rather deal with the stiffness at this point.

I'm curious about the idea that this medication could cause sweating less and heatstroke. I've never heard that before.

I had trouble swallowing when I first started taking it, but it went away after a few weeks. My doctor said that can happen sometimes. Stick with it for a bit and see if it gets better.

I had no idea about the severe constipation. I mean, I know constipation is a side effect, but a severe bowel problem?! Yikes, I'll keep an eye out for that.

I've been on it for years and haven't had any major issues. I do get constipated, but that's manageable. I think the key is to stay hydrated and listen to your body. If something feels off, talk to your doctor.
