After my heart attack last year, my cardiologist prescribed Brilinta 90mg Tablets to reduce the risk of another event. The medication has been a godsend in preventing clots, but the increased risk of bleeding has me a bit spooked. I've had a few minor bruises that seem to take forever to heal, and I'm constantly worried about more serious bleeding incidents. I've also heard that some people experience severe side effects, which is terrifying. I wonder if others have had similar experiences or if there are any tips to manage these concerns. I'm also curious about how Brilinta compares to other anti-clotting medications like Plavix or Effient. Any insights or advice from doctors or fellow patients would be greatly appreciated!

I've always heard Plavix is more aggressive than Brilinta. It’s hard to compare without knowing the full context but I’m curious how it works out for those who have switched.

My pharmacist said Brilinta is usually prescribed for those who have acute coronary syndrome, and is meant to be taken along with Aspirin. If you're having trouble, maybe ask your doctor if this is the case for you and discuss it.

My mom was on Brilinta after her heart attack, and she had a really rough time with it- constantly bruising and having nosebleeds. She ended up switching to Aspirin which seems to be working well. Maybe something to consider if the bleeding risk gets worse.

I switched from Plavix to Brilinta after a stroke, and I've had a much better experience with the latter. The bleeding risk is real, but I think the benefits far outweigh the drawbacks. Plus, my doctor said the risk of bleeding is only slightly higher with Brilinta, and it's easily managed with careful monitoring. So, don't worry too much, OP!

I’ve been on Brilinta for a while and haven’t had any major issues, but I’ve noticed some fatigue and shortness of breath. I honestly didn't notice these were connected until I was on it for a while. While I can't speak to bleeding issues, the fatigue is something I'll mention to my doc. Just wanted to express my experience on fatigue.

I've been on Brilinta for about 6 months now, and while it's done wonders for preventing clots, the bleeding risk is a bit scary. I had a nosebleed that just wouldn't stop last week, and it freaked me out. My doctor said it's normal but still... Any tips on managing this?

I think it's important to remember that every person's body reacts differently to medication. If you're having serious concerns, it might be worth talking to your doctor about alternative treatments or lifestyle changes that could help mitigate the risks. I know someone who had to switch to a different med because they had a bad reaction to Brilinta

I had to switch because of the breathing issues. If you have sleep apnea or other breathing problems, consult your doctor. I didn’t, and it took a while to really figure out what was going on.

What’s the worst that can happen if you just stop taking the Brilinta? I mean, could it be worse than the side effects?
