I've been prescribed the Buprenorphine 7.5mcg/hr TD Patch for chronic back pain, and I'm on my second week. The patch is convenient, but I'm already spotting some side effects. Has anyone else dealt with skin irritation? I'm not sure if it's worth the trouble. And I'm wondering if anyone had any experience with Serotonin Syndrome. I take some antidepressants as well, and I am freaking out. Can someone please share their experience or advice?

I had a really hard time with the patch, too. I switched to the sublingual version, and it's been a game-changer. No more skin irritation, and the side effects seem more manageable.

I've been on the patch for a few months now, and while I do get some dizziness and fatigue, it's manageable. I just make sure to take it easy on days when I'm feeling off. The doctor said this is normal too. Also, if you're worried about skin irritation you could try rotating the patch location to give the skin a break from time to time.

I've had a similar experience with the skin irritation. It's not pleasant, but my doctor recommended using a barrier cream before applying the patch, and it's made a big difference. It's worth a shot if you're struggling with that. Just be patient.

Serotonin syndrome is no joke. I had a friend who ended up in the ER because of it. If you're taking antidepressants, be super careful and talk to your doctor immediately if you notice any weird symptoms.

This is a total hot take, but I think these patches are the devil. I've had more problems with them than anything. My advice? Ask your doc if you can try the sublingual version if the patch troubles you too much.

My doctor said that the patch is meant to release the medication over 7 days so your pain stays under control. Do you find that it helps consistently or do you have pain spiking back up before you change the patch? I'm worried about that.
