My doctor prescribed me Bupropion SR 100mg Tablets (12 H) for depression and for smoking cessation. I am taking the 150mg version to help me quit smoking. This medication affects two neurotransmitters in the brain, norepinephrine and dopamine. The 'SR' means 'sustained-release,' so I can take it twice a day and it will be slowly released over time. I've heard about the side effects, which range from mild to severe, but I don't know if I should be fully concerned as there are a lot of them listed. Has anyone else taken this medication? Are the side effects manageable, or is it better to seek an alternative? I don't want to take this medication if it's going to put me at risk for dangerous and life-threatening conditions. What is the best strategy for managing side effects of this drug?

I switched from Zyban to Wellbutrin, which is the same drug just labeled for depression. There were no issues with side effects.

I was skeptical about taking Bupropion because of all the horror stories, but my doctor assured me that the serious side effects are rare. I've been on it for a year and feel great. I can't say I don't have side effects but honestly they are quite low which I can handle.

Be careful, man. My friend had a bad reaction to this stuff. He ended up in the hospital with some kind of rash and swelling. It was scary. Made me think twice about taking it for smoking.

I was on Bupropion for a few months and it helped me quit smoking. The side effects were mild for me, mainly just some vivid dreams and a dry mouth. I didn't experience any of the serious stuff.

I got super anxious and had crazy dreams when I started taking Bupropion. It was so bad I had to stop. But I know a lot of people it works well for so it might be worth a shot for you.

I had a bad experience with this one. I ended up in the ER with severe chest pain. Turns out it was a rare side effect. It's definitely worth knowing the signs and symptoms that require immediate medical attention.

I can't believe the side effects list is so long. How is this even approved? Seems dangerous.

The eye exams are actually a big deal. A cousin of mine experienced changes in vision. It's important not to overlook any irregular symptoms.
