Busulfan 6mg/ml Injection: What to Expect Before a Stem Cell or Bone Marrow Transplant
I’m about to start my busulfan 6mg/ml injection treatment before my stem cell transplant and I’m feeling a bit anxious. Has anyone gone through this and can share their experience? What should I expect in terms of side effects and how long do they usually last? Any tips on managing the more serious ones like infections or bleeding? Also, any advice on what to do if I start experiencing some of the more urgent side effects listed?

Busulfan is tough, but it’s necessary for the transplant to work. The hardest part for me was the constant monitoring for infections and bleeding. Keep a close eye on any unusual symptoms, and don’t hesitate to call your doctor if something doesn’t feel right. Don’t forget to report any side effects to the FDA!
Keep a journal of your symptoms and side effects. It’ll be super helpful for your docs to see patterns and make adjustments. And make sure to take breaks when you need them—rest is crucial. Stay strong
I'm so not looking forward to the seizures part – hope I don’t have to deal with those. But the anxiety is already taking a toll. Trying to stay positive as best as I can.
What did your doctors say about the high blood sugar/sugar electrolyte imbalance symptoms? I’ve heard that can be pretty rough.
Stay hydrated and take it easy. You'll feel weak, but that's normal. I had frequent mouth sores and irritation—drinking plenty of water helped.
