I was prescribed Butalbital/Acetaminophen/Caffeine/Codeine (50-300-40-30) for tension headaches and chronic pain. It's a potent mix of a barbiturate, a non-opioid pain reliever, a stimulant, and an opioid. It's got some serious side effects and warnings. I've been reading through the list and I'm a bit concerned. Anyone else have experience with this combo? What's been your experience? How do you handle the side effects?

Be very cautious with this medication. The combination of barbiturate and opioid can be dangerous if not monitored properly. I had a friend who got hooked on it and it was a nightmare to get off. Make sure to follow your doctor's instructions to the letter.

I took this once and felt like I was going to pass out. The dizziness was unbearable. Stay safe everyone, listen to your body.

I've been taking this for a few weeks now and I must say, the nausea can be tough to handle. I've had to eat a bunch of saltines just to keep it down. But if it helps with the pain, it's worth it. Just be careful and listen to your doctor.

I've had a few friends who've had serious issues with this medication. One ended up in the hospital with breathing difficulties. My doctor warned me about the risks, but it's scary how quickly things can go south. Be careful, everyone. Don't think this is a magic pill without any drawbacks.

Does anyone know if you can build a tolerance to this? I feel like I need more and more of it to get the same pain relief. It's scary thinking about that.

I love how caffeine is included to counteract the drowsiness from the codeine and butalbital. The combination works well for me, but I do get constipated like crazy. Have to drink a ton of water and use stool softeners. It's not fun, but it's manageable.

I had no idea there were so many potential side effects. I've been taking it for a few months and haven't experienced anything major, but it's good to know what to watch out for.

I've been on this for a while now, and while it helps with the pain, the drowsiness can be a real issue. I have to be careful when I drive or operate heavy machinery. Also, I've noticed some stomach upset, but it's manageable with antacids.

I was put on this after a bad car accident. It's helped a lot with my pain, but I've had to deal with some nasty side effects. I've had some issues with dizziness and not being able to focus. But honestly, it's a minor inconvenience compared to the pain relief. Plus, my doctor monitors me closely. I'm sure you will be fine as long as your doctor keeps an eye on you too.

I've had terrible reactions to this medication and I had to stop using it. Feels like I was on a roller coaster. It's a great painkiller, no debates. But, you've got to monitor yourself closely to ensure you're not headed for a downward spiral. Talk to your doctor if you feel anything is off.
