I've been using Calcipotriene 0.005% Scalp Solution for a few months now to treat my psoriasis, and I wanted to share my experience. This vitamin D analog has been a game-changer for my scalp psoriasis. It's applied directly to the scalp and has helped slow down the rapid growth of skin cells that cause those dreaded plaques. I've noticed a significant reduction in symptoms, but I've also experienced some side effects. I wanted to start this thread to discuss the good, the bad, and the ugly of this treatment. What have your experiences been like? Have you found any tips or tricks to maximize its effectiveness? For those new to this medication, what should you expect? Let's share our knowledge and support each other in this journey.

I've had pretty good results so far. No major side effects, just some mild burning that goes away after a while. My psoriasis has improved a lot, but I've also been using a topical steroid alongside it, which might be helping too. I guess everyone is a bit different

I feel lucky—no severe side effects for me. Just some light irritation and a bit of heat when applied. Totally manageable and worth it. My one tip if you are considering it: Be patient. It doesn't work overnight, but it does work. I did have to get a stronger shampoo and conditioner to keep my hair from breaking.

I don't know if it's just me, but I feel like this stuff made my hair get really greasy. I don't think it should be greasy. Is this normal or did I just get a bad batch? It's not that bad, but it's annoying nonetheless.

Has anyone else experienced any bad reactions? I’ve heard it can cause some pretty severe side effects, like allergic reactions and high calcium levels. I’m a bit worried about it.

I've been using Calcipotriene for a while and my psoriasis is much better, just wish I hadn't waited so long to get on it. My dermatologist said this was a good option for me since I have scalp psoriasis. It’s helped bring down the inflammation, but I do get some tingling and a bit of dryness. Doesn't bother me too much, but it can be annoying at times. I’ve also heard from others that it can take a while to see results, so be patient! When it works, it’s great. I wish there were more options for treating scalp psoriasis, but this stuff does the trick for me. The side effects are minimal in my experience.

I'm just wondering what everyone does if they experience those severe side effects? Like, should I just go to any doctor or should I go to a dermatologist?

I've been using this solution for a couple of weeks now, and I must say, the burning sensation is real! It’s not too bad, but it’s definitely noticeable. I’ve been trying to apply it at night like this thread suggests, and it does seem to help. I’ve also found that a gentle scalp massage before applying it helps evenly distribute the solution.

I’ve read about the allergic reactions and that is scary. I’d definitely call my doctor if I experienced any of the symptoms like hives or trouble breathing. Better safe than sorry, right?

I started using it too and I feel like it helps a lot. My scalp is way less itchy. Only problem is that it dries out my hair a bit, so I use a deep conditioner every other day.

I've been on this for about 6 months now and I've had a pretty good experience. I do have to be diligent with my application, though. I use a comb applicator which makes it easier to get the solution on my scalp without getting it all over the place. I’ve also found that letting it sit for an hour before showering helps. My doc got me this stuff, but I felt like I learned more about how to use it online. Like I had to figure out what works best for me, since it's not a perfect solution.
