I've been prescribed Calcitrene 0.005% Ointment for my psoriasis and it has helped with flaking, but I'm worried about the side effects. I've been using it for a while, but recently noticed some irritations and constant dry skin. Has anyone had issues with allergic reactions or high calcium levels? Is this normal? I've heard that it might cause some side effects, but doesn't seem to say how often. The possible side effects are scary enough that I worry about using the medication. I'm hoping to know if other people have experienced the same issues and if it's something to worry about. I've seen lists that mention skin burning, but I really didn't see anything that mentioned the dry skin after use.

I can't believe how well this works, the only issue I have is the skin tingling when I apply it, but it goes away after a few minutes.

I've actually had some pretty bad burning and stinging. It was really uncomfortable. I spoke to my doctor and he told me to try a lower dose. It's been a lot better now.

My psoriasis has been almost completely gone but I've had some pretty bad side effects. I've had some constipation and bone pain. I can't believe how uncomfortable it is.

I didn’t know it could cause high calcium levels! I’ll definitely keep an eye out for those symptoms.
