I've been prescribed Carbamazepine 200mg ER Capsules for my trigeminal neuralgia and have been experiencing some side effects. Has anyone else taken this medication for nerve pain, and if so, what was your experience like? I'm particularly interested in hearing about the urinary problems I have been experiencing. I'm not sure if I should be worried or if this is a common side effect. Also, I'd love to know if anyone has found ways to manage the side effects effectively. Being new to this medication it is confusing deciding if my experiences are good or bad.

I've been on Carbamazepine for my epilepsy for years. At first, I had some dizziness and fatigue, but it went away after a few weeks. As for urinary problems, I haven't experienced anything out of the ordinary. Make sure you stay hydrated, it can help. Good luck!

I was only on it for a short while - the side effects were just too much for me. It's important to remember that everyone's experience is different, so don't worry if your side effects are different from others. Just make sure to talk to your doctor about what you're experiencing.

I've heard that some people get really bad rashes. I think I'd rather deal with some urinary problems than that! But maybe it is time for a conversation about switching meds.

Wow, your experience is completely opposite to mine. I felt quite unwell with this drug, experienced nausea and stomach cramping daily. And, I can attest to the urinary problems. I had to get off it and have better luck with another medication.

I think the urinary problems you are mentioning might be because of the potential of Carbamazepine to cause low sodium levels. It’s something to watch out for. But it’s always important to talk to your doctor about it.

Have you talked to your doctor about the urinary problems? It's important to rule out any serious issues. Also, have you tried adjusting your dosage? Sometimes that can help with side effects like that. I'm sorry you're going through this.
