I've recently been prescribed Cefotan 2gm Inj, 1 Vial for a severe abdominal infection. I've always been a bit nervous about antibiotics, especially when they are administered by injection. The nurse explained that cefotetan is a powerful medication that works by killing the bacteria causing my infection. I'm sharing my experience here, along with some of the potential side effects to be aware of. For instance, the medication can cause urination problems, such as an inability to pass urine or changes in urine output, which sounds alarming. Another severe side effect is C. diff-associated diarrhea (CDAD), which can be life-threatening if not treated properly. I've also been cautious about allergic reactions, as they can be fatal in rare cases. If you're taking this medication or considering it, I'd love to hear your experiences or advice.

...yeah, I had to take Cefotan, and the worst side effect was the kick in the butt to my immune system after the course was finished. I had to go on a bunch of dietary supplements to get my gut back on track.

I've heard that Cefotan can cause severe skin reactions. Does anyone know more about that? I'm starting to worry about that...

As a nurse, I can tell you that the side effects vary greatly from person to person. Just always be cautious and monitor your symptoms closely. And yes, diarrhea is pretty common, so be prepared with some over-the-counter remedies. But honestly, if you're concerned about any side effects, it's always a good idea to get in touch with your doctor.

My friend had a severe allergic reaction to Cefotan and ended up in the ER. It was terrifying. If you have any signs of an allergic reaction, go to the hospital immediately.

I had no idea that cefotetan could be given intramuscularly. I have always taken it intravenously at the hospital.

Cefotan worked well for me in treating an infection. I only experienced mild diarrhea. But yes, I completely agree with you on the water intake. It's crucial and is a recommendation my doctor gave me, too.

I've been prescribed Cefotan for a urinary tract infection and I'm scared I might have to deal with some of the more serious side effects. I've already had to deal with a UTI before, so I felt the doctor rushed my treatment.

It should be noted that antibiotics in general, especially those like cefotetan, have potential for causing nausea or vomiting. I'm not a doctor, but I'd suggest talking to your doctor about these side effects before starting the treatment.

I've had it and found that if you drink plenty of water and rest, the side effects are manageable. Although I must admit, I felt weak in the days after my treatment.
