So I have been prescribed Cefprozil for my 5-year-old who has an ear infection. She started it yesterday and today she has a rash and bad stomach ache. Is this normal? Has anyone else experienced this and what should I do? The bottle says to call doctor if I have questions but I feel like it could be an allergic reaction. Help!

I'm no doctor, but that sounds worrying. Best to go to the urgent care.

Skip the call and head to the ER. A rash can be an allergic reaction.

My son had a rash too. It turned out to be an allergic reaction but I didn't notice any stomach issues. Maybe it's something else.

Stop giving your child the medicine until your doctor tells you otherwise. Don't ignore those symptoms, especially in a small kid.

I've seen similar symptoms in a child on Cefprozil. It can be normal but I'd definitely call the doctor.

I'd try over the counter Tylenol for the stomach ache and give the doctor a call first thing in the AM.

This is why I always ask for something else to keep on hand in case it doesn't work out.

I had similar issues with antibiotics and later found out I have a penicillin allergy. An allergy test would be a good call here.

Oh no, I had a bad reaction to some prescription meds. Good luck!

My kid had a similar experience with Cefprozil. It was a minor allergic reaction. The doctor just switched to a different antibiotic and it was fine. I'm sure another medication they prescribe will work for you.
