I've recently been prescribed Cidofovir for my CMV retinitis, and I'm a bit nervous about the potential side effects. The list is long and scary! I'm really hoping to hear from others who have used this antiviral injection and had good results. How has your experience been? Did you encounter any of the urgent side effects, and if so, how were they managed? Would love to hear about the recovery process and how well the treatment worked for you. How difficult was IV administration and how long did it take for you to feel better?!

I had a really bad reaction to Cidofovir, too. I was so sick and could barely move, but after a couple of days, I felt like a new person. Then I found out I was actually allergic and had to stop treatment.

It's important to remember that everyone's experience is different. What might be severe for one person could be mild for another. Just stay in close contact with your doctor and report any side effects immediately. There's no shame in asking for help.

The injection itself isn't too bad, but the aftermath can be tough. Make sure to stay hydrated and rest as much as possible. Also, keep an eye out for any signs of infection—it's crucial to catch them early.

I've been on Cidofovir for about 6 months now and it's been a real rollercoaster. The side effects were intense at first, but my doctor adjusted the dosage and I'm doing much better now. It's definitely a tough medication, but it's working. My vision is finally improving.

I was really worried about the side effects too, but my doctor assured me that they would monitor me closely. I ended up having some mild side effects like headache and diarrhea, but nothing too severe. It's been a few weeks and so far, so good.

I've been on Cidofovir for a few months now and it's definitely been a rough ride. The side effects are no joke, but my doctor has been great about managing them. I had some kidney issues at first, so I had to be monitored closely. But overall, it's been effective in treating the CMV. Hang in there!

Great thread. I was really nervous about starting Cidofovir, but after doing a ton of research and talking to my doctor, I felt much better. It was intense, but manageable, hair loss was bad though.

I had to stop using Cidofovir because of severe allergic reactions. If you start to feel any of those symptoms, do not wait to go to the ER immediately. It's not worth the risk, trust me.

Just wanted to say, I had a friend who used Cidofovir and it saved their life. They had to deal with some severe nausea and vomiting, but it was worth it in the end. Just be prepared for the side effects and stay in close contact with your healthcare provider. Good luck!
