Cimetidine 200mg Tablets: My Experience with Urgent & Mild Side Effects
Have any of you taken Cimetidine 200mg Tablets for heartburn, indigestion, or stomach ulcers? I've been taking them for a week now, and while they've helped with my symptoms, I've also experienced some side effects. I had hives on my arms and legs and mild confusion after my second dose I am so worried about these symptoms. Has anyone experienced these before?
I'm particularly concerned about the urgent side effects listed in the package insert. It's scary to think that something I took for mild indigestion could potentially cause such severe symptoms. I even checked the FDA's Medwatch the other day. I've also had a bit of mood swings but i've noticed that if I avoid alcohol these are less severe, has anyone else experienced this?. I will be sure to continue with my regular doctor's appointments to monitor these issues.
Also, does anyone know if these side effects go away after your body gets used to the medication? Or is it just best to talk to your doctor and switch to a different alternative?

I've had no trouble with any side effects, but I do know someone who had a really bad reaction. They ended up in the ER with some sort of a psychotic episode. Terrible experience, but if you ask me, they are probably an outlier, everyone else I know who has taken it had it go away after a while. Make sure you talk to your doctor.
I've been on Cimetidine for a while now, and I haven't experienced any of those urgent side effects, thankfully. I have had some mood swings but if i avoid alcohol these are less severe. I did have some weird dreams the first week but nothing too alarming. I just wish it didn't make me so tired all the time.
Drug side effects are no joke. While I don't know a lot about Cimetidine side effects I did find some resources here: https://www.fda.gov/medwatch.
I thought the side effects were bad, but the heartburn was worse. I had to take it for a few months, and I didn't get any side effects, but my doctor said I should stop taking it.
I had some weird dreams the first week but nothing too alarming. Definitely go to the doctor though, you need someone to let you know first hand what you have.
I had liver problems — Yellow skin or eyes, dark urine, all that fun stuff. My doctors said that I should stop taking it immediately. I did and I am still recovering but I really hope I can get back on track.
I've had trouble with other antacids, but Cimetidine works for me. I don't have any side effects, but I do take it with food and check the website of my pharmacist for any more updates. Maybe that helps?
