Cisplatin is a powerful chemotherapy drug used to treat a variety of cancers. It works by damaging the DNA of cancer cells, preventing them from multiplying and ultimately leading to their death. Administered intravenously in a hospital or clinic setting, Cisplatin has shown effectiveness in various cancer types. However, it comes with a range of potential side effects, from minor discomforts like nausea and hair loss to severe and life-threatening reactions. This thread aims to discuss the pros and cons of Cisplatin, share personal experiences, and provide crucial information on managing side effects. If you or someone you know has undergone Cisplatin treatment, we'd love to hear your story, tips, or advice.

I hate to freak anyone out, but the kidney issues are no joke. I had to go on dialysis because my kidneys shut down. It was a horrible experience, but I'm still here fighting the good fight. So worth it to deal with something so scary to kill the cancer.

My friend went through Cisplatin and had a severe allergic reaction. It was terrifying, but she made it through. Just be prepared for anything and make sure you're in a safe medical environment.

The IV site got infected for me, and it was a nightmare. They had to change the site after two days, and I was in so much pain. Just be vigilant and let your nurse know if anything feels off.

My sister went through Cisplatin treatment, and she lost all her hair. It was devastating for her, but she handled it with such grace. A lot of people don't realize how emotionally taxing these treatments can be. Just be prepared for the emotional toll as well as the physical.

I just finished my third round of Cisplatin, and while it's tough, I'm seeing some positive results. The nausea was brutal at first, but my doctor prescribed some anti-nausea meds that helped a lot. Anyone else have tips for managing side effects?

I'm on my second round of Cisplatin. The first time, I had no side effects at all, so I think my body is tolerating it well. Fingers crossed it keeps working! Can anyone recommend any good books to read during treatment? I need some distraction!
