I recently had to undergo treatment with Clindamycin 900mg Injection, given as a 50ml IV dose. While it's an antibiotic used for serious infections like those caused by anaerobic bacteria, the side effects are a bit scary! As I researched it, I found that it can cause anything from mild stomach issues up to life-threatening allergic reactions. I'm grateful the doctor warned me about the potential side effects, but I'm curious if others have had similar experiences. What should we watch out for? What are the less severe concerns? Are there any tips to minimize these issues? I know it can cause diarrhea, stomach upset and vomiting, but what can help with those? I'm particularly worried about the risk of kidney problems or severe skin reactions—has anyone experienced these or know someone who has?

Must have been tough. If you experience fever, chills, or sore throat, those can also be signs of an allergic reaction or infection. Especially if you get the throat symptoms. Did you have a sore throat or throat irritation while taking it?

Yes, make sure to discuss any concerns with your doctor. Don't ignore any side effects, especially the severe ones. Clindamycin is a powerful antibiotic, but it can have serious side effects if not managed properly. Try to get a dose adjustment if it's possible. And you should also know that Clindamycin can interact with other medications, so always check with your doctor about potential drug interactions.

I've heard that some people experience a bad taste in their mouth while on this medication. It's a weird side effect, but definitely something to be aware of. Other than that, the potential for allergic reactions is a big concern. If you start feeling shortness of breath or notice any swelling, get to the ER right away. Better safe than sorry with serious infections and antibiotics.

Definitely agree. I had a friend who ended up in the hospital because of severe skin reactions from Clindamycin. It was scary, and he had to stop the treatment immediately. Allen was prescribed steroids and other medications to combat the symptoms. He recovered, but it was a close call. Be careful, watch for any signs of complications and stay in touch with your healthcare provider.
