I'm about to undergo my first colonoscopy and I'm dreading the prep part. I have to take Sodium/potassium/magnesium Oral Sol and I've heard some really scary things about it. Has anyone been through this with this specific prep kit and can share their experiences. I need some tips to survive this! Also, what can I expect in the way of side effects? I've heard some horror stories and I'm not surprised to know this can be quite intense.

I've done it twice now. First time was brutal, but the second time I was better prepared. I drank lots of water and electrolytes, and I made sure to stay hydrated. Also, I broke up the dose and spread it out over a few hours. It wasn't pleasant, but it was manageable.

The trick is to start early and give yourself plenty of time to finish the prep. I had to be done by 6pm and I was done by noon. The prep instructions say to finish within a 4 hours time window. If you get your first of eight doses down, then you need to start moving on the second bottle of doses. Don't dilly dally. Get to it.

This stuff is the worst. I felt like I was going to die. My advice? Drink lots of clear liquids and stay close to the bathroom. And when you think you're done, you're not. Trust me.

I hate how much I sweat during this process. And I'm not just talking about the sweats from the cramping. I've never had a hot flash in my life, but during prep, I was sweating bullets. Bring a towel. Keep the fan on.

I experienced a lot of electrolyte imbalances because of the laxative. I got some seizures I didn't have before. My nervous system was completely out of whack. I did not have a pleasant experience at all.
