Ropivacaine 5mg/ml Inj, 200ml is a commonly used anesthetic for surgery, childbirth, and post-operative pain management. It works by blocking nerve signals to numb specific areas. While generally effective, this medication can have serious side effects, including allergic reactions, acidosis, and methemoglobinemia. I've seen it used in various medical procedures, but I'm curious to hear from others: What have been your experiences with this drug? Have you or someone you know encountered any of the listed side effects? How effective was the pain management in your case?

I had an epidural with Ropivacaine during childbirth, and it worked wonders for the pain. I barely felt anything during delivery, but I did experience some back pain afterward. It was manageable, though.

Anyone had issues with Ropivacaine and kidney problems? I've read it can affect kidney function. I am concerned because my husband has kidney issues.

I think the side effects are worth the relief for most procedures. But it’s important for patients to be aware of the serious side effects like methemoglobinemia and acidosis. Maybe doctors should spend more time discussing these rare conditions with patients.

This was given to my Dad during his hernia surgery. He had a few side effects but nothing too severe. He did mention a metallic taste in his mouth and some mild tingling in his fingers. He was a bit confused for a few hours and slightly lethargic, but the pain relief was worth it.

I got a bit scared reading about methemoglobinemia. Thankfully, I didn't experience that, but the thought of a blue face is terrifying. I would rather have the pain if it meant avoiding that.

Does anyone know if Ropivacaine is safer than other anesthetics? I've heard it's less likely to cause cardiac toxicity, but I'm not sure if that's true.

One time I had an epidural with this stuff, and I felt super dizzy afterwards. It was intense, but the pain relief during labor was amazing. Totally worth the side effects.

I had a friend who got this and had to be taken back to the OR for a worsening of symptoms. It was scary, but they recovered.
