I've been using Dapsone 7.5% Gel for a few weeks now to treat my acne, and while I've seen some improvement, I'm starting to worry about the potential side effects. The gel works by reducing inflammation and fighting bacteria, which is great, but the list of urgent side effects is pretty scary. I've been experiencing some dryness and redness, which are listed as common side effects, but I'm a bit nervous about the more serious ones. Has anyone else had any issues with this medication? I want to know if these are normal reactions or if I should be worried. Has anyone who's experienced more serious side effects had any luck getting them resolved with a doctor? Also, what are the chances that these issues can be mitigated by using a different acne treatment or by adjusting my skincare routine? I really want to get a handle on my acne, but not at the risk of severe health issues.

Do you have any other acne meds you recommend?

I started using this a few months ago and I've been really happy with the results! I did experience some dryness and peeling, but I've found that using a very gentle cleanser and a thick moisturizer helps a lot. It's all about finding the right skincare routine to complement the medication.

How long do you need to use this stuff? I am up for anything but a life long treatment.

I had a similar reaction at first, but my doctor said it was normal. I ended up using a different moisturizer and it helped a lot! I'd definitely call the doctor if you're worried though.

I started using Dapsone 7.5% Gel a few months ago. I had a bit of redness and dryness, but it went away after a couple of weeks. It really helped with my acne, but I'm glad to hear that the serious side effects are rare. It's always a bit scary starting a new medication, but so far, so good.

Be careful, I saw what happened to someone at work when they had a bad reaction to the gel. scary stuff.

The good news is, the most serious side effects are really rare but I decided to stop using it after developing a dry skin patch. My dr. prescribed something else and I'm happy with the results. With Dapsone I would have to use a gentle skincare routine and moisturize constantly and I think it was just to much effort.
