I've been taking Depakote 250mg Extended-Release for about six months now to manage my migraines, and I've had a mixed experience. Initially, the medication seemed to help reduce the frequency of my migraines, but recently I've started noticing some side effects that are concerning me. I've read about the possible side effects, but I'm wondering if anyone else has experienced something similar or if there are any tips for managing these side effects. Specifically, I've been dealing with dizziness, drowsiness, and some weight gain. Has anyone else had to deal with these issues, and if so, how did you cope? I'm also curious about the long-term effects of this medication and if anyone has switched to a different treatment for migraines. Any insights or advice would be greatly appreciated!

I've had a similar experience with Depakote for migraines. The dizziness was pretty bad at first, but it subsided after a few weeks. As for the weight gain, it's been a struggle. I've tried different diets and exercise routines, but it's been tough. I did switch to a different medication because of the weight gain. It might be worth talking to your doctor about alternative treatments.

I had really bad joint pain and swelling, and it felt like a brutal combination of arthritis and flu-like symptoms. I don't know if I can stay on this drug.

My doctor told me to keep an eye out for signs of infection, but I don't know what to look for. Anyone have any tips on that? Also, I'm curious if anyone has had any issues with allergic reactions or high ammonia levels. It's all kind of scary to think about.

This is crazy, I have never had more nausea in my life. I don't know if I can continue using Depakote.

Watch out for the liver issues! I had to switch meds because my levels were too high.

Depakote helped me a lot with my seizures, but I had to deal with some unusual side effects like ringing in the ears and uncontrolled eye movements. It's weird, but it's been manageable. My doctor suggested some lifestyle changes, and it helped a bit. I've also had to keep an eye on my liver function, as it can cause liver problems in some people. Regular blood tests are a must while on this med.

I've been on Depakote for a few months now and haven't experienced any side effects yet. Knock on wood!

I've been on Depakote for years for bipolar disorder, and it's been a lifesaver. However, I did experience some hair loss and weight gain initially. I found that eating a balanced diet and doing some light exercises helped with the weight gain.

I've had some balance issues and memory problems. It's scary stuff, and I'd recommend anyone on Depakote to keep a close eye on these symptoms. I've tried to counteract this with brain exercises, but it's been a real challenge.

I started feeling really upset and anxious. I had to get my meds adjusted. My psych actually suggested a few other options as well.
