I've recently been prescribed Depakote 500mg Delayed Release Tabs for my bipolar disorder. I've heard mixed things from other patients about side effects and how it compares to other treatments like lithium or lamictal. Has anyone else here switched to Depakote ER for their mental health or epilepsy treatment? How did it go? I'm curious about the common side effects and things to watch out for. Did you have any particular success or tips from your Depakote experience? I am trying to adjust to this new medication, and would love to hear from others.

Depakote helped me a ton, but I had to make major adjustments. Make sure to stick with your dose at the same time every day. Consistency matters a lot.

Depakote gave me some really bad stomach issues when I started. It might have been the extended-release tabs, but I switched to the regular formula and things settled down. My psychiatrist also recommended taking it with food.

Does anyone else feel like they can't think straight when they switch to this med? It's like brain fog took over my life for a bit. But I felt better after a few weeks.

I've been on Depakote for over a year for epilepsy, and it's been a nightmare. The extended-release tablets are supposed to be better, but I still get random stomach aches and mild pain in my joints.

I've been on Depakote for a while now and it's been a lifesaver for my epilepsy. The once-daily dose is a game-changer for sure. Just make sure to stay hydrated; I noticed some mild dehydration symptoms at first.

I switched from lithium to Depakote and the difference has been incredible. My moods are more stable, and I haven’t had a manic episode since. Just don’t mix it with other meds without talking to your doc first.

I started Depakote for bipolar disorder a few months ago. The first couple of weeks were rough with some serious dizziness and fatigue, but it’s been manageable since. I'm definitely more stable than before. Just keep an eye on those side effects. I had to get blood tests to monitor my liver function.

Be careful with alcohol while on Depakote. It can cause weird interactions and make the side effects worse. I had to cut back on my usual Friday night drinks.

I had a pretty severe allergic reaction when I first started Depakote. Went to the ER with hives and trouble breathing. Turns out I had a severe allergy to one of the fillers. Just a heads-up to be careful.
