Depakote ER: Early Experiences with 500mg Extended-Release Tablets
I just started taking Depakote 500mg Extended-Release for my bipolar disorder. I'm hoping it helps stabilize my moods. I've heard it can help with seizures and migraines too. Has anyone else tried this? How long did it take to see results? Also, I'm a bit worried about the side effects. Anyone have any bad experiences with this medication?

I've been on Depakote for years. It can be a real mood stabilizer but beware of the weight gain. I've had to change my diet and exercise routine to keep it under control.
I had a terrible allergic reaction to Depakote. Swelling in my face and trouble breathing. Scary stuff. Definitely talk to your doctor right away if you feel something is wrong.
Good luck with the Depakote! Just be aware that it can affect your memory. Really noticed that when I was on it.
I've been on Depakote for a year now for my epilepsy. It took about a month to start seeing a difference. I had some initial side effects like dizziness and nausea, but they went away after a few weeks. I also gained some weight, but it's manageable.
Depakote has been a lifesaver for me. I tried a bunch of other meds, and it didn't work out. But this one really helps with my migraines. Just make sure you keep an eye on your liver and thyroid. I've had blood tests and other scans regularly to keep things in check.
Remember, people, don't stop taking the meds without talking to a doctor. Cold turkey is not cool turkey.
