Desipramine is a tricyclic antidepressant (TCA) used to treat depression by balancing neurotransmitters, primarily norepinephrine, in the brain. While it can be effective, it's crucial to understand the potential side effects and how to manage them. If you've had experience with Desipramine or other TCAs, I'd love to hear your thoughts. Also, what was your experience with the timeline? Did it take 2, 4, 8 weeks to see the effects? Did you have any of the less common side effects like sexual dysfunction or enlarged breast tissue? What would you do differently.

It's crazy how many side effects there are. I had a friend who ended up in the ER with an allergic reaction. It's scary stuff. Make sure you have a plan to manage these urgent side effects!

Ding Ding Ding, sexual dysfunction was the absolute worst. Seriously, it's a killer.

I'd like to know how long it took for the full antidepressant effect to kick in. Did you have any of the less common side effects? Enlarge breast tissue? sexual side effects?

Luckily, I didn't experience any of the serious side effects, but the constipation and weight gain were a real pain. With the constipation, I had to take stool softeners. Another user mentioned fiber and hydration, so I'd recommend it as well. For the weight gain, I started working out regularly and eating healthier. It took a few months, but I eventually felt better overall. I’d be careful with taking stool softeners; make sure to talk to your doctor first.
