I've been taking Desloratadine 5mg Tablets for about a month now to manage my spring allergies, and I've had mixed results. On the one hand, it's been great for my sneezing and itchy eyes, which is what I was hoping for. But I've been dealing with dry mouth and some muscle pain since I started taking it. Has anyone else experienced similar side effects, or is this just my body being weird? I’ve read the package insert, and it mentions these as possible side effects, but it’s still not fun to deal with. I’d appreciate some advice or insights from others who have tried this medication. Also, I’m curious if anyone has experience with switching brands. I know it’s the same active ingredient but would like to hear personal experiences from people who have changed brands.

As I recall, the label suggests drinking plenty of water to combat dry mouth. As for the muscle pain, are you staying hydrated? Sometimes dehydration can cause muscle pain too. Just a thought!

I've heard that taking Desloratadine with food can help with some of the side effects. It might be worth a shot!

I've read that some people find that taking the medication in the evening helps with dry mouth and fatigue. It might be something to try if you're waking up feeling fresh rather than groggy.

Have you checked if there might be something else causing the muscle pain? Like maybe dehydration? I’ve had muscle pain and dry mouth before with other meds. And sometimes it was a good reminder to drink more water.

I had to switch to Cetirizine because Desloratadine made me feel terrible. I was so irritable and had bad headaches. Everyone is different, and it sounds like your body might not be a big fan of Desloratadine either.

I've been really happy with Desloratadine. It feels like an easy-to-take route to stopping the symptoms of allergies. But muscular fatigue and dry mouth? Yikes. I'd ask the doctor about it. You can always ask for a switch back to Loratadine if that’s an option or see what else they have to offer. That might be the most prudent step for you.

Good luck! I hope you find something you can tolerate and I would love to hear if making any diet or schedule changes helped.

I take Desloratadine and have never had any issues. I think it really depends on the individual. I guess we’re all different. I hope you find something that works for you without the side effects.
