I've been using DHS Tar Shampoo for the past month to treat my seborrheic dermatitis, and I've had mixed results. At first, I was optimistic. The shampoo worked well for my flaking and itching. However, I've started to experience some irritation and dryness after using it a few times. I'm not sure if this is normal or if I should be concerned. Has anyone else experienced similar issues or know if this is common? Additionally, is the smell something that fades quickly after use? I was taken aback by how overpowering it was. It's also worth noting that I've read about the potential serious side effects and I'm starting to feel uneasy. Can anyone share their experience with these symptoms to put my mind at ease? Thank you!

The smell is strong but it does fade. I usually let it sit on my scalp for 5 minutes before rinsing, and then I use a regular shampoo afterwards to get rid of the leftover smell. It's a bit of a hassle but worth it for the relief it provides.

This shampoo works wonders for psoriasis but I always keep a close eye on my scalp during use. The smell is overpowering the first couple of times but it’s just something you have to deal with until your skin is used to it. Be careful during the first few uses and know that side effects like these are pretty common so if you experience anything you think is harmful, go to the doctor!

Isn't this stuff just tar water? I've heard it smells like a campfire, but if it works, it's worth it. Just a quick rinse or two and the smell fades, but it’s something you have to deal with.

Be careful with the shampoo. I had a severe allergic reaction the first time I used it. Luckily, I caught it early and was able to stop using it before it got worse, but it was scary. The side effects are no joke, so keep an eye out for any unusual symptoms.

Why does it have to be so overpowering? I can’t figure out a way to keep the smell down. It’s not awful but it’s not great either. The trade-off is worth it though. I had no reaction or irritation since using it so it’s just worth it.

Try diluting it with a non-medicated shampoo if the irritation is too much. I mix half DHS and half regular shampoo. It's helped me a lot with the irritation without compromising the treatment's effectiveness.

I used DHS Tar Shampoo in combination with a topical steroid cream. The shampoo helped with the scalp irritation, and the cream took care of the patches on my forehead. It was a game-changer for me.

I've been using DHS Tar for years and it's helped me immensely. Sometimes it can be a bit irritating but it goes away as you continue to use it. Stick with it for a few more washes to see if the irritation subsides.
