I've been prescribed Altabax 1% Ointment to treat a case of impetigo. The doctor assured me it's common and effective, but the list of possible side effects is concerning. I've started using it and am noticing some mild itching and redness. Is this normal, or should I be worried? I'm particularly scared of the severe allergic reactions mentioned. Has anyone else had similar experiences or concerns? How did you handle them? Also, are there any tips or tricks to effectively use this ointment? Do I need to be careful about how frequently I apply it or how long I leave it on?

I've used Altabax before and didn't have any issues. Just make sure to wash your hands before and after applying it. Also, keep the area clean and dry as much as possible. But if you see any signs of those severe reactions, head straight to the ER. It's not worth the risk.

I've had impetigo before and this stuff really works well. My doctor told me to use a different antibiotic, but I asked her for this and she agreed. I think it was a better idea

I used Altabax for impetigo last year. I got some redness and itching too. The doctor said it's common and told me to keep using the ointment as prescribed. Had to stop it after it got worse and it switched to a different antibiotic

I've had impetigo before and it's the worst. I had a lot of sores all over my face and arms, it was gross. But this stuff worked really well.

Make sure you're not using any other topicals on the same area. I had some issues with irritation because I was also using a moisturizer. I stopped using the moisturizer and it got better. Make sure to use a clean cotton swab too.

This thing is a lifesaver. My kid had impetigo and it cleared right up. But I had to wash all his socks and towels after he used them, so it was a bit of a hassle. That was probably because of the ointment

I was scared about the burning and swelling, but it was fine for me. It's not a fun experience, but definitely worth it to get rid of the infection.

Be careful not to touch your eyes after applying. I did it once and man, it burned like heck. Learned my lesson the hard way.
