I was recently prescribed Dificid Sus for a severe case of C. diff. I've heard that C. diff is nasty; does it really work? I've been on it for a week, experiencing some stomach pain and upset stomach but nothing too serious. I've read the side effects on the package insert, and it worries me. With a serious infection, I wasn't sure what to expect. Has anyone else taken this medication and what side effects did you have? I'm trying to understand the difference between normal and serious side effects. Is it common to experience stomach pain and nausea? How can you tell if you are having a bad reaction to the meds? Any advice on managing these side effects would also be appreciated. Let me know if you have experience with it.

Don't forget to drink plenty of water — it helps with the side effects.

I'm looking into it for my mother, who has had a rough time recently with C. diff. What a terrible infection. I can only imagine she has had a rough time of it.

Dificid Sus definitely works, but you have to be careful with the side effects. My doctor gave me some medication to help with the nausea, and the rest was a bit of a waiting game. The thing I noticed was that I was extremely tired and weak, until I started to get better. There are so many stories about side effects and people not being able to deal with the side effects, but you have to be positive during this time. Just stay positive and focused, you will be okay.

It is absolutely essential to take the medication, some people like to skip taking the medication, because of the side effects, but if you skip a dosage, you make it worse for yourself. You have to take every dosage, the infection is too nasty to take a chance on.

Had a friend on Dificid, had a really bad reaction, ended up in the hospital, because of the fever and chills. She was having an allergic reaction, and they needed to give her an IV of steroids. It was super rare and crazy scary, but she was okay in the end.

I took Dificid Sus a few years back, I believe the stomach pain and nausea should go away as your body adjusts to the medication. But it is important to hold off on the medication if that happens. I had the same issue, I stopped taking the medication and spoke to my doctor, I felt better by the next day. But then my doctor put me on a different antibiotic and it worked perfectly. I've heard that C. diff is nasty. I want to know what the real story is here.

Felt like I got the worst of the C. Diff infection, but this medication was a game changer. I had some really nasty reactions at the beginning, but I kept at it. It is hard to believe it was worth it, but it really was.

I agree with the above poster, taking the medication is essential for the treatment of C. diff. Did your doctor actually confirm you had C. diff, or did they just assume? I had a similar experience with my doctor, it was a really scary thing to go through.
