I recently started taking Diltiazem ER 420mg Tablets for high blood pressure and have had mixed experiences. The medication is supposed to be taken once a day, which is convenient, but I've had some side effects that I wasn't prepared for. I'd love to hear from others who have taken this medication. What has your experience been like? Have you encountered any of the more serious side effects mentioned in the warnings, like severe skin reactions or liver problems? I've only had some mild headaches and dizziness, but I'm still a bit worried. I've talked to my doctor, but I'd like to get some real-world perspectives. Do you have any tips on managing side effects, or should I just hold out until my body adjusts to the medication? Also, what does the 420mg denote? I had assumed that the 420mg was a total daily dose, but I'm not sure anymore. Has anyone had any luck with managing the cost of Diltiazem ER Tablets? Are there any generic alternatives that work just as well? What does ER stand for anyway? Thanks in advance for any insights you can share!

I've had it prescribed for my angina. I do experience a slow heart rate, but my doctor says it's normal and should stabilize. Only issue I have is occasional constipation. I take an over-the-counter stool softener. Just be cautious because this medication can cause serious side effects, so be careful and keep an eye on your liver function.

I've been on Diltiazem ER for a few months now and it's been a game-changer for my hypertension. The ER stands for extended release. It's designed to slowly release the medication over 24 hours, which is why you only take it once a day. I've had some dizziness, but it's manageable. Just make sure to stand up slowly and stay hydrated! Just a warning: it should not be crushed or chewed.

I recently switched from a different blood pressure medication to Diltiazem ER because of some side effects. The switch has been smooth so far, and I haven't experienced any major issues. I just make sure to take it at the same time every day to keep my levels consistent. It's been a really helpful tool and i would recommend it if you're having trouble with hypertension.

I had a really bad experience with Diltiazem ER. I broke out in hives and my face swelled up. Turns out I was having an allergic reaction. Had to go to the ER and get a different medication. I hate the idea of taking several pills everyday, but this was a bit much.

The extended-release feature is a big plus. I take mine at night before bed so I don't experience any dizziness during the day. My BP has been well controlled.

I've read the insert about liver function. I'm worried about my liver function going downhill and having to see a specialist, especially since I saw something about liver function tests going downhill. I've never had blood tests done, so I'm really nervous. Would anyone be willing to talk about their blood tests?

This drug gave me a bunch of nasty, hard-to-ignore side effects... the nausea, in particular, was intense. and I was almost sure I was going to die. The doctor and the pharmacist had nothing to say. I am not on medication anymore.

Thank you for this thread and how much I read on this website. My doctor is prescribing me Diltiazem ER 420mg for the first time. I'll go to the hospital to get my meds as soon as I can. But I have some faith in it now

I think that the drug is very effective. Someone told me that a huge dose of Diltiazem can cause heart failure. I'm a bit scared about the consequences of taking it. Is it worth the risk?

Be careful with this medication. Report any sign of a rash to your doctor immediately. It could be life threatening. I cannot believe how many cases of Stevens-Johnson Syndrome (SJS) have been reported, both by family and friends.
