DM-GG-phenyl Tablets: my brother almost died, but does anyone else get relief from congestion?
So my brother took DM-GG-phenyl Tablets after catching a nasty cold, and this stuff helped tremendously with his coughs and congestion. It helped me with my cold last week, but a few days later he had hives and trouble breathing. He went to the ER and said they told him it was an allergic reaction to the medication itself. I'm going to go back to plain old NyQuil. I'm wondering if others have had the same reaction, or if they have had success with this medication. I'm interested in hearing everyone's experiences. I feel like this is a case of a rare side effect but still worth mentioning. I do not have any personal experience with any other side effects yet, but I am curious if anyone else has had any other side effects before. I wonder if I should stop taking this altogether. Does anyone know how easily accessible these meds are?

Has anyone tried natural remedies like honey and lemon? They work for me and no side effects.
I had trouble sleeping after taking these. It was like my body was wired and I couldn't relax. I switched to a different brand and it was fine. It's weird how different people react to the same meds.
I work in a pharmacy and we get calls about these all the time. It's scary how many people have bad reactions. Always good to be cautious with new meds.
I had a similar experience with DM-GG-phenyl. I got the worst rash, and my throat was so tight I thought I was having a heart attack. Turns out it was a severe allergic reaction. I'm sticking to natural remedies from now on.
I think the phenylephrine in these is what helps the most with my nose. It really clears me out. But yeah, the side effects sound bad. I'll keep an eye out.
