I have been prescribed Timolol Mal 0.5% Ophth Sol 60s to control the high pressure in my eyes. Timolol works by reducing the amount of fluid your eye makes, which helps prevent damage to your vision. However, I'm a bit worried about the potential side effects. I've heard that the side effects can range from mild to severe and potentially life-threatening. Signs of an allergic reaction include rash, itching, and trouble breathing. More serious signs include neurological symptoms like weakness on one side, trouble speaking or thinking, and eye problems like pain or severe irritation. Cardiovascular symptoms can also occur, such as dizziness, abnormal heartbeat, and chest pain. Heart failure is a severe potential side effect where you might experience shortness of breath or swelling In the arms or legs. So I'm curious to know if anyone else has had any of these side effects to help me understand what I might be dealing with. I want to know if the common side effects like burning or stinging are as bad as they sound. And I'm also curious about how well the eye drops actually work and how long it takes to see improvement in eye pressure. I'll be keeping a close eye on things as I start using them daily.

I've been using Timolol for a few months now and haven't experienced any major side effects. Just a bit of stinging when I first put the drops in, but it goes away quickly. I'm happy to report that it has significantly reduced the pressure in my eyes. I recommend sticking to your prescription and following the doctor's advice to see the best results.

I had a horrible reaction to Timolol. Within hours I had a rash. I felt like I had been poisoned. The pharmacist told me to use a different product and I can't wait to try it.

I didn't know the side effects could be so serious. I wonder if it's worth the risk.

Are you sure that you used the drops properly? I've had people tell me how great Timolol was even when they used the drops improperly. EDUCATION is key and the manufacturer lists the instructions so that they are clear. See if there is a misunderstanding.

I have been using Timolol for over a year now and while it works well, I did have some troubling symptoms in the beginning. About a month in, I started to feel dizzy and lightheaded. When I reported it to my doctor, I was prescribed beta blockers which cleared the symptoms in a few days. I am a lot more comfortable now.

Aren't we lambs to the slaughter when it comes to our prescriptions? My family doctor is all about prescription eye drops and I have never had any luck with topicals. Each one I've tried has caused me to suffer from eye pain and irritation. Timolol is not the only medication and we need to be able to speak up when it is not helping us. It's our health!

I'm glad you posted this! I've been prescribed Timolol and was really worried about the side effects. I had no idea the allergic reactions could be so severe. I'm definitely going to keep an eye out for any signs and report to my doctor immediately. Thanks!

Be prepared for some serious stinging. I started Timolol last week and it's been rough. My doctor assured me it's normal, and I'm hoping we'll be able to find a way to get the same benefits without the pain. Have you tried any of the different brands?

I had terrible eye irritation and even had a stroke of glaucoma. I'm not sure that I am seeing the benefits.

I had a terrible reaction to Timolol. Within hours of using it, I developed a rash and my face started swelling. I had to go to the ER. I have a feeling that my doctor will put me on a different medication and I can't wait. Topical steroids make my eyes feel a lot better.
