I've been recently diagnosed with Iron Deficiency Anemia. My doctor has prescribed Slow FE 160mg CR Tablets. They are supposed to help with the iron deficiency by releasing the iron slowly to reduce stomach upset, which is great because I've had issues with other iron supplements in the past. Has anyone here taken these tablets? I'm curious to know about your experience with them—both the good and the bad. How long did it take to see any improvement in your iron levels, and did you experience any side effects? I've read about some serious side effects like allergic reactions and black stools, so I'm a bit concerned. Also, any tips on how to manage the more common side effects like constipation or stomach pain would be appreciated!

This is a terrible pill. My stomach felt terrible every time I took it. After reading the possible side effects, the risk of a serious allergic reaction or other bad side effects seems like a lot to take on, even if the hope is that they are rare.

I took these for a while and they worked okay, but I switched to a liquid iron supplement because it was easier on my stomach. Just make sure to take it with a meal and lots of water that helped me avoid the upset stomach. I do miss not having to take the pill every day, though. It was so convenient to take and when I missed one, I saw no impact on my iron levels.

Not sure why the seriously bad side effects are not even thought about by the doctors when prescribing these things. Can be potentially lethal

I've been taking Slow FE for a few months now, and it's been a game-changer for me. I didn't have any serious side effects, but I did get some constipation and stomach cramps. Drinking lots of water and eating fiber-rich foods helped a lot. It took about 2 months to see a significant improvement in my iron levels.
