I was recently prescribed Benazepril 10mg Tablets to manage my high blood pressure. I've been taking it for a couple of weeks now, and while I haven't noticed any significant side effects yet, I'm curious to know if anyone has had more long-term experience with this medication. Specifically I am curious about side effects, effectiveness, and any lifestyle changes that might be needed to better manage this condition. I've heard that some people experience a persistent cough as a side effect, but I'm hoping that's not the case for everyone. Has anyone else had a similar experience? How did you manage it?

I've been on Benazepril for about a year now, and it's been great for managing my blood pressure. I did experience a bit of dizziness at first, but it went away after a few weeks. I also noticed I was more sensitive to salt, so I cut down on my intake and that helped a lot. The biggest change was that I had to monitor my potassium levels regularly, but it's been worth it to keep my blood pressure in check.

I've been on Benazepril for about 6 months and it's been great. I did experience a bit of dizziness at first, but it went away after a few weeks. I also noticed I was more sensitive to salt, so I cut down on my intake and that helped a lot. I didn't experience any persistent cough though. Maybe you'll be one of the lucky ones!

Does anyone know if you can drink alcohol while on this medication?

It's really important to stay hydrated while on Benazepril. I noticed a big difference in how I felt when I upped my water intake. Also, regular exercise helps a lot with managing blood pressure overall.

Honestly, I'm just really glad I found something that works for me. High blood pressure runs in my family, so I'm always a bit paranoid about it.

My doc warned me about the kidney problems. I'm keeping a close eye on mine. Hopefully this doesn't mess things up.

Be careful with Benazepril. I had a nasty allergic reaction to it. Swelling in my face and lips. Scary stuff. Had to go to the ER.

I have been taking Benazepril for about 5 years now. I had some stomach issues at the start, but my doctor adjusted the dosage and it was fine.
