Does anyone take Carbamazepine ER 400mg Tablets for trigeminal neuralgia?
I was recently prescribed Carbamazepine ER 400mg Tablets for my trigeminal neuralgia, and I'm wondering if anyone else has experience with this medication. I've heard it can be really effective, but I'm also a bit nervous about the potential side effects, especially the serious ones. Has anyone had any bad experiences or know of any tips to manage the side effects? How often do you take it, and has it helped with your symptoms? Also, what about taking it for bipolar disorder, anyone with experience with that?

I took it for a while for bipolar disorder. It helped a lot with the manic episodes, but I had to stop because of a rash. Definitely talk to your doctor about any side effects.
Be careful with this one. I had a friend who ended up in the hospital with some of those serious side effects. Make sure you're monitored closely.
I've been on Carbamazepine for a few years now for my epilepsy. It's made a huge difference, but yeah, the side effects can be rough at first. Stick with it, though—it gets better. Make sure you're taking it with food to avoid stomach issues.
I had to quit because of the low sodium levels. I felt like a zombie, and my doctor said it was because of the meds messing with my electrolytes.
I had a friend who got a rash, and I've read about people getting the fever and sweating too. There's no joke about side effects with this one. I think it's a good med, but worth a second thought.
I switched to the extended-release version, and it's been a game-changer. No more multiple doses a day! Just make sure you don't miss a dose—withdrawal symptoms can be nasty.
I've been on it for trigeminal neuralgia and it's been a lifesaver. No more facial pain! Just make sure you're not doing anything that requires a lot of focus when you first start—it can make you pretty drowsy.
