I've been prescribed Famciclovir 250mg Tablets for my shingles outbreak and I'm wondering if this antiviral medicine will cure my herpes infection completely and for good. The doctor mentioned that it helps reduce symptoms by preventing the virus from multiplying. But does it actually get rid of the virus entirely or just keeps it at bay? I've heard mixed things from different people. Anyone have personal experience with this? I'd really appreciate hearing about it, so I know what to expect. I know that it can have some side effects, like headache, upset stomach, or diarrhea, but I'm more concerned about any long term effects I might not know about. I also saw that severe allergic reactions are possible, so I'm a bit nervous about that too. If anyone has some advice or tips on managing side effects or dealing with the anxiety of taking this medication, I'm all ears!

Just started taking it and I'm a bit nervous about the side effects, especially the severe allergic reactions. Has anyone experienced anything like that?

Make sure to report any side effects to the FDA. It's important for tracking and understanding how these medications affect people. You can do it online or call them. Their website has a lot of useful information too.

Just a heads up, avoid alcohol while taking this medication. It can increase the risk of side effects.

I had a mild rash when I started, but it went away after a few days. I'd recommend keeping an eye on any unusual symptoms and contacting your doctor if you notice anything concerning. That said, don't let the fear of side effects stop you from taking it. It's really helped me.

Completely agree with the water tip! Staying hydrated made a big difference for me. Also, I avoid taking it on an empty stomach to prevent upset stomach.

Famciclovir doesn't cure herpes, but it does help manage outbreaks and reduce symptoms. It's worked for me so far!

I've been on Famciclovir for a while now. It's definitely helped with the pain and itching. I get the occasional headache, but it's worth it to keep the outbreaks under control. I've also found that drinking plenty of water helps with the side effects.
