I recently had an MRI with Dotarem 7.5mmol/15ml Inj, 15ml used as a contrast dye. The doctor said it would help highlight blood vessels and inflammation in the MRI images. I was a bit nervous about the side effects, especially the severe ones. I had a feeling of warmth at the injection site, which was a bit uncomfortable but not too bad. I am glad I didn't experience any major side effects like allergic reactions or kidney problems. My doctor informed me about the rare but possible severe side effects and told me to watch out for signs of an allergic reaction, kidney problems, and irritation at the injection site. I also knew that if I had any questions or concerns about side effects I could contact my doctor or report them to the FDA. I wonder if anyone else has had a similar experience with Dotarem or knows more about the side effects and how to manage them.

If you have any concerns about side effects, talk to your doctor. They can provide personalized advice based on your medical history. Always trust your instincts. If something feels off, it's better to be safe and get checked out.

Dotarem helped so much with getting diagnostics. Thanks for sharing your experience!

I had a weird taste in my mouth after the injection. Is that normal?

I've had several MRIs with contrast dye, but this was my first with Dotarem. I didn't experience any side effects, but I was really nervous about the possibility of kidney problems since I have a family history. My doctor assured me that the risk was low with proper hydration. I drank lots of water before and after the procedure. Still, I'm glad I didn't have any issues.

Changes in taste can happen. It's usually not a big deal, but if it persists or if you have other symptoms, call your doctor.

I had an MRI with Dotarem last year and felt really hot afterwards. It was uncomfortable, but my doctor said it was a common side effect and nothing to worry about. Just make sure to tell your doctor about any symptoms you experience.
