My doctor told me the side effects would go away in a few weeks. It took a bit longer, but eventually, things settled down. But if the mood changes are severe, definitely talk to your doctor.
I've been on amitriptyline for a few years now and it has really helped with my migraines. I've had some gastrointestinal issues, but nothing too bad. Might be worth it to talk to your doctor about adjusting the dosage or adding some support meds for the side effects.
I've been on a lower dose for depression and it's completely changed my life for the better. I've had some weird side effects too. I had horrible constipation. Be prepared for that.
I've had some strange side effects too, like changes in my taste buds. Everything tasted weird for a while. Has anyone else experienced this?
