I've been prescribed Eltrombopag 12.5mg for severe aplastic anemia and was wondering if anyone else here has experience with this medication. It's supposed to help boost platelet counts, but the side effects list is surprisingly long. Has anyone experienced any serious issues like blood clots or neurological symptoms? I'm particularly concerned about the potential for severe allergic reactions. Also, how well does it work? Has anyone seen a significant increase in their platelet count while taking this medication? I'd love to hear about your experiences, good or bad. I’m hoping to get some practical advice on managing the potential side effects and to see if there are any tips or tricks to make the experience better.

Watch out for any signs of a UTI. I had a really bad one a few months into my treatment, and it was terrifying.

I hear you on the allergic reactions. It's important to be aware of any skin changes or breathing difficulties. Better to be safe and get checked out right away.

Just started my treatment and can't say much yet, but my biggest worry is the long-term effects. Has anyone been on this for a long period and had any issues?

Honestly, the drug has been a game-changer for me. I was on the verge of giving up on treatment options, but Eltrombopag brought my platelets to a safe level. You just have to keep in touch with your hematologist and get regular checkups. I’ve had to adjust my diet slightly and make sure I rest enough, but it’s worth the tradeoff.

You should also keep an eye on your liver function. Eltrombopag can cause liver toxicity, so regular blood tests are a must. Stay vigilant.

I just started taking Eltrombopag last week. So far, so good, but I'm really nervous about the potential side effects. Any tips on how to manage the nausea and headaches? I’ve read that ginger tea can help with nausea but I’m unsure what to do for headaches.

Just a heads up, if you're taking Eltrombopag, make sure to avoid grapefruit. It can really mess with the drug's effectiveness. Stay away from it for now.

I had some strange vision changes when I started taking it, but they went away after a few weeks. It was scary at first, but my doctor assured me it was a known side effect and it would pass. Luckily, I didn't experience anything too serious.

I've been on Eltrombopag for about 6 months now, and it's definitely helped with my ITP. My platelet counts have stabilized, and I haven't had major episodes of bleeding, which was a big relief after a year of platelet transfusions. The side effects haven't been too bad—mostly just some nausea and headaches, but nothing I can't handle. My doctor monitored me closely in the beginning, and that really helped me feel safe. Overall, I'd say it's worth it if you're struggling with low platelet counts but talk to your doctor as much as possible over the first few months.
