I've been taking Enalapril 2.5mg Tablets for about 3 months now to manage my high blood pressure. Overall, it seems to be doing the job, but I've noticed a persistent cough that just won't go away. My doctor mentioned it could be a side effect, but I was wondering if anyone else out there has experienced something similar?

I've read about the more serious side effects and thankfully haven't had any of those, but this cough is getting quite annoying. Any tips on how to deal with it or should I just wait it out?

Also, I'm curious to know if anyone has had any issues with dizziness or other mild side effects. How did you manage them?

Thanks in advance for any insights!

I haven't had the cough, but I did get really dizzy at first. It got better after a few weeks. Make sure to stand up slowly and maybe your doctor can adjust your dosage.

I'm so glad I found this thread. I've been experiencing the cough and was starting to think it was something more serious. Good to know it's just a side effect.

Enalapril saved my life, but the cough was a pain. I found that drinking ginger tea helped soothe my throat. Worth a shot!

Persistent cough is common with ACE inhibitors like Enalapril. If it's really bothering you, talk to your doctor about switching to an ARB, which might not have that side effect. Good luck!

I've been on Enalapril for a while and the cough was definitely an issue for me too. My doctor recommended using a humidifier and staying hydrated. It helped a bit, but the cough eventually went away on its own after a few months.

I’ve actually had a similar thing with another blood pressure med. You just have to ride it out unless it’s really bad. You'll get used to it.

I’ve never had a cough on this med, but I’ve had the dizziness. I just make sure to stay hydrated and it helps a lot. Also, tell me how it helps reduce the strain on the heart??

This is why I hate taking medication. Side effects suck. Just deal with it, I guess. You could always ask your doctor about switching to a different med.

I've been on this med for years and the cough comes and goes. It's annoying, but I've learned to live with it. Just make sure to monitor your blood pressure regularly.
