I've recently been prescribed Erythrom Eth 200mg/5ml Susp 100ml for a respiratory infection. It's been effective so far, but I've been reading about the potential side effects and it's quite alarming. Has anyone else had any serious issues while taking this or any other similar antibiotics? I'm really concerned about the rare but serious side effects, especially the liver problems and Stevens-Johnson syndrome. I know these are rare, but when they happen, they can be life-threatening. How do you mitigate that risk? Does anyone have any tips on how to manage the less severe side effects, like diarrhea and upset stomach? I've heard that probiotics can help, but I'm not sure if that's true and I'd like to get some feedback from people who have actually been through this. I'm just trying to stay informed and prepared at this point. Also, I've been wondering if there are any alternatives with less severe side effects, and if so, how do they compare in terms of effectiveness? I know this is an antibiotic and it's supposed to be serious, but any advice or experience would be much appreciated.

I think it's important to note that many of the serious side effects are rare, but you should definitely be aware of them. But, It's crucial to contact your doctor if you experience any unusual symptoms. I would trust your doctor on the rationale for the prescription. They usually know what they're doing.

I've had a similar experience with another antibiotic, and it was a real nightmare. I ended up with a bad case of CDAD. It was scary. Make sure you contact your doctor if you experience any kind of diarrhea while taking this stuff. It can be more serious than you think.

I've heard that taking probiotics can help with the diarrhea and stomach issues. It might be worth a shot, but definitely talk to your doctor first. Also, make sure to finish the entire course of antibiotics, even if you feel better. Stopping early can lead to antibiotic resistance.
