I've been prescribed Erythromycin 250mg DR Tablets for a respiratory infection and I'm curious about everyone's experiences with this medication. Specifically, I want to know about any side effects you've encountered and how you managed them. The doctor mentioned potential stomach upset, but I'm more concerned about the urgent side effects listed. Has anyone dealt with anything serious? How did you handle it? Also, any tips on managing the less severe side effects like diarrhea would be appreciated.

I had a bit of an allergic reaction once — itchy skin and a rash. It wasn't life-threatening, but it was scary and uncomfortable. Make sure you monitor any skin changes closely.

I took Erythromycin a few years back and had some pretty nasty stomach issues. Nothing too urgent, just a lot of discomfort and diarrhea. I found that taking it with food helped a bit, but it was still rough. Definitely keep an eye out for any severe symptoms though, better safe than sorry.

You're lucky you've got a delayed release version of this drug. The regular version has pretty awful stomach issues. I've heard of people taking probiotics to manage the diarrhea though. Always talk to your doc first.

Lol, I took this stuff and had no idea it could mess with your heart. Definitely pay attention to any irregular heartbeat symptoms, even if it seems unrelated.

Severe side effects are rare, but it's always good to be cautious, especially with antibiotics. Make sure you're going into it prepared to report any issues to your doctor. Better safe than sorry!

I’ve never had any bad side effects from Erythromycin, but my buddy had to stop taking it because he got this really bad case of diarrhea that wouldn't stop. Had to go to the hospital for IV fluids. Scary stuff.

Glad folks are sharing their experiences. Always best to be prepared. I called my doctor immediately when I got a rash because I've had bad experiences with antibiotics before. Doctor said it was nothing serious, but it’s always good to check.

I’ve never heard of antibiotics causing hearing problems before. New one on me. Must be related to the high doses some people have to take, I guess.

I developed a severe case of diarrhea once, didn’t know if it was from taking Erythromycin or something else. The doctor told me about C. diff-associated diarrhea (CDAD), but it turns out mine was just a common reaction. Be cautious if diarrhea lasts longer than a couple of days, or if it’s extremely watery or bloody.

Remember, if you experience any of the urgent side effects, get to a doctor ASAP. It's not worth risking your life over a cough. Erythromycin can cause a rare but serious condition called long QT syndrome. Call 911 if you suspect this.
