Erythromycin Eth 400mg Tablets: What are the potential side effects and what to do if you experience them?
I was prescribed Erythromycin Eth 400mg Tablets for a respiratory tract infection. I read through the possible side effects, and it sounds a bit scary. There are some really serious ones listed. Has anyone else had any problems (side effects) with this medication? My doctor told me to take the full course of medication as prescribed, even if I feel better, so I'm worried it might get worse before it gets better. I’m curious to hear about others’ experiences and what to do if you experience side effects

I had a rapid heartbeat when I was on Erythromycin. I was waiting and waiting for it to go away but it was difficult to focus while my heart was racing. I was really worried and had to go to an urgent care clinic. Turns out it was a side effect but if you feel this, get to a doctor and make sure it's not a heart attack.
My friend had a really bad reaction to Erythromycin—turns out he was allergic. He ended up in the ER with hives and difficulty breathing. Scary stuff. If you notice any signs of an allergic reaction, like rash, itching, or swelling, get to a doctor immediately. This can be life-threatening if not treated right away.
I've taken Erythromycin a few times with no issues, but I always make sure to finish the full course. The last time I took it, I got a little upset stomach, but it was worth it to finish the full course of antibiotics and feel better. Some people get really worried about these antibiotics and want to skip out on the full course but that can be a big mistake. The doctor knows best.
I had horrible diarrhea when I was on Erythromycin. It was really bad and scary. I had to go to the doctor and get tested for C. diff because it was getting so bad. Turns out, I didn't have it, but it was still a scary experience. I was miserable until about halfway through the course, but felt better after. If you experience diarrhea, just keep an eye on it and call your doctor if it gets severe or bloody. It was no joke.
Did anyone else have hearing loss after taking Erythromycin? That's just a new thing on the side effect list.
I had to stop taking Erythromycin because it made me feel really dizzy. It was scary. I was walking around the house and felt like I was going to faint. Doctors said it was an allergic reaction, and I'm really glad I stopped taking it. I hope others can avoid this experience.
I took Erythromycin for a skin infection a few years back. I had some stomach upset and diarrhea, but nothing too severe. I just made sure to drink plenty of water and eat easily digestible foods. Other than that, it was fine. Just finished my course this morning; I felt better a few days after starting the medication. If you start having any concerning symptoms, though, don’t hesitate to call your doctor. It's always better to be safe.
Ugh, I’ve been dreading the diarrhea. It’s the worst part of taking antibiotics, but if it goes away after the course, it was worth it.
