Erythromycin Ophth Oint 1gm Sgl/use: My Newborn's Eye Ointment - What to Expect?
I've just started using Erythromycin Ophth Oint 1gm Sgl/use for my newborn as a preventative measure for eye infections. The doctor mentioned it's quite common, but I'd love to hear from other parents who have used this. What were your experiences? Did you notice any side effects? How long did you use it for? And how did you apply it? I'm a bit nervous about it—any tips would be greatly appreciated!

Make sure to wash your hands before and after applying the ointment. I found that my baby would usually fall right to sleep after I put it in since it kind of acts like eye drops
I noticed some slight irritation, but it went away after a couple of days. Just make sure to follow the doctor’s instructions and you should be fine.
Ha, my baby hated having it put in. My wife managed to get a photo of them with their eyes squeezed shut. It was a good laugh.
I never had any issues with it. It’s a common procedure in the hospital right after birth. If your baby is fussy, try to apply it when they’re sleepy or distracted with a favorite toy.
I used this for my daughter and it was super easy to apply. Just squeeze a thin line along the inside of the eyelid. No side effects at all.
