I started using the Etonogestrel Ethinyl EST Vag Ring a few months ago and have had a mix of positive and negative experiences. For those who don't know, this vaginal ring is a type of birth control that you insert into your vagina. It releases two hormones, estrogen and progestin, which work together to prevent pregnancy by stopping your body from releasing an egg, thickening the mucus in your cervix to block sperm, and changing the lining of your uterus. You wear it for three weeks, then take it out for one week, and then insert a new one. I've had some minor side effects like vaginal irritation and weight gain, but nothing too severe. However, I've also seen some changes in my menstrual periods, including spotting or bleeding between cycles, which has been a bit concerning. Has anyone else experienced this? The side effects listed for this ring are pretty extensive, so I'm curious to hear from others who have used it. Does anyone have any tips for managing the side effects or making the experience more comfortable? Also, what does the community think about the risk of serious side effects like blood clots or toxic shock syndrome? It's a bit scary to think about these possibilities.

I've been using the vaginal ring for a while now, and I've noticed that it's given me a lot of urinary issues. But then, what can't birth control mess with? I guess I would rather deal with that than pregnancy.

I only have this ring because my doctor told me to. I swear I'm the only person in my friend group that uses this method and I've literally seen nothing but horror stories. I'm about to switch my birth control to something else, but I'm not sure what I can do. Any suggestions?

I switched from the Nuvaring to the Etonogestrel Ethinyl EST Vag Ring because the Nuvaring gave me terrible headaches. I've found my new ring to be a lot more comfortable, but the downside is that it seems to make me more emotional than ever before. Sometimes, it's like I'm living in a soap opera.

I never imagined I'd be so emotional over a vaginal ring. I've seen some side effects, but I guess it's better than dealing with pregnancy.

One thing that makes the ring easier for me is that it is one of the few birth control methods that my insurance covers in full. It's worth considering if cost is an issue for you.

I've had some nasty side effects on hormonal birth control, including tons of weight gain and severe depression. The vaginal ring didn't work out for me, but the copper IUD has. I think it’s worth considering non-hormonal options if side effects are a major concern.
