I recently had surgery and was given Exparel 1.3% Inj, 20ml for post-operative pain management. It was administered by my doctor, and it was supposed to release pain numbing medicine slowly over several days. I understand it's meant to reduce the need for other pain medications, but I'm not sure if the potential side effects were fully explained to me. I'm curious if anyone else has had a similar experience. How did it work for you, and did you experience any of the side effects listed? I'm particularly concerned about the urgent side effects and how they might affect me in the future.

My mom had this after her knee replacement. She had no issues at all. It’s always a risk, but she was really glad to avoid the strong narcotic pain meds.

I had it after my wisdom teeth removal. I didn't feel any of the side effects, and the relief from pain was fantastic. My doctor said it’s rare to have side effects, but I was just relieved to avoid the pain.

Honestly, I wish my doctor had warned me about the potential side effects more clearly. I was so focused on the pain relief that I didn’t think much about the risks. Now I know what to expect if I ever need it again.

Exparel is supposed to be long-lasting but not everyone responds to it the same way. My doctor explained that it’s more about the individual’s body chemistry and how they respond to the local anesthetic.

I had it after a spinal fusion and it helped me a lot but I can see how the side effects can be scary. I didn't experience any of the urgent ones, but the minor ones like dizziness and trouble sleeping were annoying.
