I recently picked up some Triple Antibiotic Plus Ointment 15gm for a small cut on my hand. The instructions say it contains three different antibiotics and a pain reliever, which sounds great, but I'm a bit worried about the possible side effects. Has anyone else used this? I want to make sure I'm not missing anything important. I've heard that some people can have pretty severe allergic reactions, so I'm being extra cautious. What should I do if I start to feel any weird symptoms? Also, how long should I keep using it? I want to make sure I don't overdo it. Do I have to be concerned about not using enough of the ointment? I've never had to use this kind of thing before. I know it's supposed to prevent infection and reduce discomfort, but how do you know when it's working?

I used it on a small cut last week and had no issues. I would just be careful to clean the area well first. No point in putting ointment on a dirty wound. Have you looked at the directions for how to use it properly? They usually give good instructions for how often and how much to put on.

Trust me when I say you don’t want to have a bad reaction to this stuff. It’s rough. The first thing you should do is make sure to clean the area, pat dry and not rub. This is something I wish I knew before. Use a mild antiseptic or soap and water first. Apply a thin layer and try to cover it with a Band-Aid. I've personally had a lot of success with this. I had a bad cut a few years back and the ointment saved me. It prevented the infection and the pain didn't even last for long. If you feel any pain and notice puffiness, get the heck out of dodge and call your doctor. It's better to be safe and sorry.

I've never had any problems using it, and I've had to use it a few times for deeper cuts. Some people say it works faster than other things, but I'm not sure about that. I'd just make sure you're not allergic first, if possible.

Damn, I had no idea this stuff could have such bad side effects! I've always used it without a problem. I might reconsider using it in the future, especially since I have a history of allergic reactions. Triple antibiotics sounds pretty intense. Do you guys know how it compares to Neosporin? Probably the same, right?

I've only had minor side effects from this stuff. Mild redness, a little itching, but nothing severe. If you get something stronger than that, definitely see a doctor. I work with antibiotics all the time and the worst that happens is some mild skin irritation. I think it’s just a coincidence though because extended use of antibiotics is generally not recommended. It can mess with your gut bacteria and lead to antibiotic resistance. That’s a well-known side effect.
