Fentanyl Cit 1600mcg Oral Transmucosal Lozenges are designed for cancer patients experiencing breakthrough pain. These are strong opioid pain medications meant to be used by those already on around-the-clock opioid pain medicines. They dissolve in the mouth to provide rapid relief for sudden, intense pain flares. However, the side effects can be severe and even life-threatening, so it’s crucial to be aware of the risks. This thread is for those who have used or prescribed this medication to share their experiences and offer advice.

This drug is not for the faint of heart. The side effects can be brutal. Make sure you have a support system in place and a doctor who’s on top of it. It’s a lifesaver for pain, but it's not a walk in the park.

Just remembered something. My doctor prescribed this along with oxycodone. It was hard to balance the two, but the support of my medical team helped tremendously.

Why would anyone use this when there are other opioids with less severe side effects?

As a healthcare professional, I've seen firsthand how this medication can transform a patient's quality of life. However, the risk of respiratory depression and other serious side effects means it needs to be managed very carefully. Patients need close monitoring, especially in the early stages.

I used Fentanyl Cit 1600mcg Oral Transmucosal Lozenges for the last six months of my mom’s battle with pancreatic cancer. The relief it provided her from sudden, severe pain was incredible. It was a game-changer, but we had to be very careful with the doses and always had naloxone on hand. The side effects were tough to manage, especially the constipation and dizziness, but the pain relief was worth it.

I've seen patients get through withdrawal from this med pretty smoothly under a doctor's supervision.

I've been taking these for a while now. The side effects are rough, but the pain relief is worth it. Just make sure to stay in close contact with your doctor and watch for any signs of serotonin syndrome.

Why do you call it a roller coaster? Just stick to the facts, man. Don’t make it sound like a thrill ride. It’s a hard ride alright, but not one for thrill seekers.

I've been on and off this. I think the biggest challenge is the emotional roller coaster. It’s tough to manage the pain vs. the side effects.
