Flucytosine 250mg Capsules are a powerful antifungal medication used to treat severe fungal infections, particularly those affecting the brain, spinal cord, or blood. Often used in combination with amphotericin B, it works by inhibiting fungal growth. While effective, Flucytosine can cause severe side effects, some of which are life-threatening. I've heard mixed reviews from patients and their families. What do others know about its efficacy and side effects?

Just wanted to share that I was on Flucytosine for a few weeks and my blood sugar levels dropped to a point where I had to stop taking it. Flucytosine is only worth it if you have a severe enough infection.

I had no idea Flucytosine could cause hallucinations. That's terrifying. I had a friend who developed a fever after taking his medication for a night and was in the hospital for a week because they had to run tests for an allergic reaction.

I was put on Flucytosine after a severe bout of Cryptococcosis. It was effective but had terrible side effects. I experienced severe nausea, dizziness, and lastly hallucinations. Doctor switched me off of it after hearing about my hallucinations and switched me to a different medication.

I agree, the side effects are no joke. I had mouth ulcers and stomach trouble the entire time I was on it, then I was off it for 2 weeks and the symptoms went away, then I was back on it after a few tests and the symptoms returned.

I just started taking Flucytosine and I'm already feeling nauseous. I'm scared to continue but my doctor said the effects can stop if you stick with taking it. I'm hopeful.
