I've recently been prescribed Fluocinolone Acet 0.025% Oint 60gm for my psoriasis. My skin doctor says it can reduce inflammation and itching, but I'm a bit worried about the side effects. I've read that it can cause allergic reactions, high blood sugar, and even a weakened adrenal gland. I'm trying to get a better understanding of the possible side effects, and how likely I am to experience them. Does anyone else have experience with this medication, and should I be worrying, or am I just jumping to conclusions? I'd appreciate any shared knowledge.

Anyone have any advice on the best way to apply topical steroids? I always feel like I'm not getting it on right and it makes me hesitant to use it.

I was on this medication for a couple of months. I didn't experience any allergic reactions but one thing I noticed was skin thinning on the area where I applied the ointment. It wasn’t severe, but it made me stop using the ointment. I just switched to a milder topical cream and it’s been working fine for me.

I used this for a week and it helped a lot, but I had to stop because I thought I had a rash that was getting worse. It turns out it was just the medication, but I wasn't sure at the time. Also, I had to stop using it to help a friend with a headache.

I've heard horror stories about topical steroids causing issues like Cushing's syndrome. Is there a way to mitigate these risks?

I've had a similar experience. I was prescribed this for my eczema, and it definitely helped with the symptoms, but I noticed some dryness around the area I applied it.

As long as you follow the prescription guidelines and use it only for a short duration, the risks of developing Cushing's syndrome are very low. It's always a good idea to talk to your doctor about these concerns and how to minimize the risks. They can provide personalized advice based on your medical history and current health condition.

I know this can be a bit scary, but try not to worry too much. I've used this ointment a couple of times and it really helped with my eczema. As long as you use it as prescribed and keep an eye out for any unusual symptoms, you should be fine. If it does happen to cause any serious side effects, just discontinue use and speak with your doctor.

I've been using this ointment for a few weeks now, and while it has helped with the itching, I've noticed some skin irritation where I applied it. It's not too bad, but it's concerning. Does anyone else have this issue? And if so, have you found a good solution to combat it?

I’ve had to stop using topical steroids multiple times in the past due to side effects but it's been pretty hard to find relief for my psoriasis. Fluocinolone worked well the first time I used it, but I didn't experience much relief the second time. Some people go through remedies pretty quickly and I think it can be a result of the body getting used to the medication. If you find that it’s not working as well as before, talk to your doctor about a different treatment plan. They might suggest using this medication in combination with other therapies or switching to a different topical treatment.
