I've been using Fluticasone/salm Inh 45/21mcg 120s for a few months now to manage my COPD symptoms, and it's been a bit of a rollercoaster. At first, I wasn't sure what to expect, but my doctor assured me that this inhaler combines fluticasone and salmeterol to reduce lung inflammation and open my airways. I use it twice a day, and it's certainly helped with keeping my symptoms under control. However, I've had some side effects that I wasn't prepared for. One thing I've noticed is a mild sore throat. Another issue is weight gain. I've gained 10 pounds in the last few months as well, which has been frustrating. I've been doing a lot of research online to try and understand what's going on. But so far I haven't found many reliable sources about these issues. To be honest, the warning about severe breathing problems was really scary to read, but thankfully I haven't experienced anything like that. I'm wondering if anyone else has had similar experiences with side effects or has advice on how to manage the weight gain. I'm also curious about how anyone else copes with remembering to take this medication twice a day.

This stuff really helps me with my asthma… but I got the hives from it. They were so bad and red… I took a break from the inhaler and then it seemed to settle down. But I'm not sure if it was actually the inhaler or something else. I'm not really sure what to do now.

I've been using Fluticasone/salm Inh 45/21mcg 120s for a few months and I've noticed some sleep disturbances. I'm not sure if it's related to the inhaler or something else. Is this normal? I've tried a few different things to help me sleep. Nothing works. I hope it goes away soon.

Who here has had problems with the inhaler? My experience has been a lot better than the side effects listed on the medication sheet. Yeah, I did get a little bit of tremor, but I don't really get anything major. I'm just glad that it helps me breathe better.

I've been using this inhaler for years for my asthma, and I haven't had any major side effects. I do get headaches sometimes, but it's a small price to pay for being able to breathe easily. Just make sure to use your rescue inhaler if you start feeling any breathing issues. You can't use this inhaler for sudden problems, so always have quick relief medication on hand.

I've had some weird mouth sores and irritation from this inhaler. My doctor told me to rinse my mouth with water after using it, and that helped a lot. Also, I can't take fish oil while I take this medication. It made me feel terrible.

Be careful and always read the side effects documentation again before taking new medication. This is really important in my experience. Ask your doctor or pharmacist about anything that's confusing. Always ask if you have questions. I remember taking my first inhaler and feeling really disoriented by the side effects. I've learned a lot since then.

I've heard that weight gain can be a side effect, but it sounds like that's not a common issue. Maybe it's something else that you are eating? I have noticed that my appetite has increased but that was do to a change in exercise, not my inhaler. I'd talk to your doctor about it. Also, set an alarm or reminders on your phone to make sure you don't miss a dose. Consistency is key with this medication.

I think it's great that you're being proactive about your health and looking for more information. If you have persistent concerns about side effects, definitely bring them up with your doctor. You can also report side effects to the FDA at 1-800-332-1088 or online at https://www.fda.gov/medwatch.. You should also keep a log of any side effects you are experiencing. That will help your doctor determine if the inhaler is the source of the problem.

Yes, I've experienced some weight gain too, but I've also noticed increased muscle weakness. It's been really frustrating because I can't do the things I used to do. It sounds like you have a different experience than me. I would talk to your doctor about this too and ask if there is anything you can do to mitigate the effects.
